In an action contesting the validity of a special school election wherein the voters approved a bond issue, contestants appealed
first from an order denying their motion for a new trial and subsequently also from the final judgment entered. The appeals
have been consolidated for review. On December 10, 1956, the Board of Education of Independent Consolidated School District No. 1 of Lyon County resolved to
borrow money for the betterment of the schoolhouse in the district and to acquire additional land adjoining the school site
with moneys on hand. The board submitted the proposed betterment and land-acquisition projects to the qualified voters for
approval at a special election held January 23, 1957, upon a ballot which read:
